Our region

This is a long-term effort and transformative program of work focused on providing more sustainable outcomes for all Northern Rivers communities to remain safe and to better cope with natural disasters in the future.

The NSW Reconstruction Authority is working with stakeholders and communities within the 7 local government areas in the Northern Rivers:

Richmond Valley
Tweed.

A snapshot of our work

As a coordinating body, the NSW Reconstruction Authority is working with communities, councils, multiple government agencies and stakeholders to prioritise, sequence and enable the significant reconstruction and place-based adaptation effort across the region. Figures released by the Insurance Council of Australia estimate the costs and scale of the damage to homes, business and infrastructure at more than $5.56 billion. In response, the Australian and NSW Governments are committed to supporting the recovery, repair and rebuilding of impacted communities.
