Your electricity
There are four NSW Government-owned electricity businesses which provide both retail and network (that is the poles and wires) services.
As Standard Retail Suppliers, they operate within specific geographic areas and are required to:
- arrange connections to premises; and
- supply customers in their supply areas with electricity at prices regulated by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART).
These businesses also provide network services. They are responsible for maintaining and operating the infrastructure such as substations, transformers, poles and wires that deliver electricity to your premises.
Your gas
There are five standard retail suppliers of natural gas in NSW. Each supplier is required to:
- supply gas to retail customers located in their supply areas; and
- apply any tariffs, fees or charges to retail customers for the supply of natural gas in accordance with any relevant gas pricing order from IPART.
