NSW Government releases the Better Value Infrastructure Plan
20 June 2012
NSW’s Better Value Infrastructure Plan was supported by the Council of Australian Governments in April 2012 and identifies actions for all governments in Australia to get the best value out of their infrastructure expenditure.

The Plan aims to improve the way infrastructure is designed and delivered in Australia by:
- creating more visibility for industry of the infrastructure investment pipeline
- working closely with industry to achieve more innovative and commercial solutions in infrastructure design and delivery
- promoting skills development in the management of projects through secondments between government and industry
- sharing of best practice between industry and jurisdictions through a rotating national infrastructure forum
- removing duplication between levels of government to reduce the regulatory burden of environmental planning and assessment processes.
To progress the implementation of the Better Value Infrastructure Plan, the NSW Government will work closely with industry to host the first National Infrastructure Delivery Forum in 2012.
The Forum will focus on improving the collaboration between government and industry, both during infrastructure project initiation and delivery.
The more detailed Technical Paper, of which the Better Value Infrastructure Plan is based on, has been prepared by Arup for Infrastructure NSW.
