Employment assistance for your staff
The Department of Education and Communities can provide training assistance for staff you are retrenching because of business closure or downsizing. The assistance covers a range of services from information and advice to skills assessment and gap training to full training qualifications. If you have retrenched an apprentice or trainee they can register to be matched to apprenticeship or traineeship jobs available across the state under the Continuing Apprentices Placement Services [3] (CAPS). Eligibility criteria apply and relocation assistance may be available. Ring 13 28 11 for assistance.
Businesses can also register their interesting in employing a CAPS eligible apprentice or trainee [3]. For more information please call 13 28 11.
Assistance is for available employers of aboriginal people and their staff in the form of support in the workplace, training and employment assistance. Contact an Aboriginal Training Coordinator on 13 28 11 for more information.
Skills and training for your staff
Skills assessment of your existing workforce can uncover some much needed abilities and skills and have a positive impact on productivity. Alternatively if you are forced to downsize and retrench it can provide them with improved employment opportunities.
