About 25/26 Createability Internship Program

25/26 Createability InternshipThis program focuses on NSW artists, sound, screen and creative industry workers with disability who can undertake an internship with an industry host organisation to help build skills, experience and job opportunities.

How your application was assessed

Your application was processed by Create NSW staff, a preliminary eligibility check was conducted, and the Createability Assessment Panel was convened.  

  • The Assessment Panel was made up of Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport (DCITHS) and Accessible Arts NSW staff, the majority of whom are people with lived experience of disability.
  • The Assessment Panel members reviewed and scored your application against the assessment criteria.
  • The Assessment Panel met to discuss all applications and advised Create NSW on the strongest ones to be shortlisted for the interview stage.
  • Shortlisted applicants will participate in an online interview process with host organisations facilitated by Create NSW and Accessible Arts staff.

  • The strongest applications clearly described what the impact of the internship could be on their career, what they want to get out of it and why now is the right time for this particular opportunity.
  • They also described how their skills and interests would be relevant to the organisation.
  • The panel encouraged applicants to be more specific about why disability support is important to you.
  • The strongest applications clearly responded to the questions in the application.

2. Experience

What education you have completed?

What work experience you have?

What are your interests and hobbies?

  • The strongest applications clearly explained how the opportunity was relevant and would benefit their next career steps, ideally in both the short and longer-term.
  • The strongest applications had a support letter from someone who knows you and your abilities. Try and get a support letter from someone in the industry, your current or former employer or if you don’t have industry experience then make sure your support letter is specific about how you will benefit from that particular internship.
  • The panel encouraged applicants who are using AI to make sure you are only using it to organise your thoughts and experiences, but not to form your thoughts. Speak from the heart, in your own voice, and back yourself to know what makes you unique.

How does the opportunity relate to your career direction?

  • The Panel encouraged applicants to look closely at all the role descriptions and research the organisations to determine which is the best fit for your interests and skills. Make sure the application responds to the specific role description.
  • The strongest applications clearly explained and were specific about how their experience and interests were suited to the organisation/s they preference.
  • The panel encouraged applicants to research the location of the role/organisation and your ability to get there. If the organisation is not in your region, it would be helpful to explain what connection or plan you have for being able to get there.
