1. Idea

A clear vision for your project that explains its aims and purpose.

• Explain the context of where the idea came from.

• Outline the purpose in simple language (avoid jargon). 

• Provide a strong ‘pitch’ for the idea so it is interesting and easy to understand, even for someone unfamiliar with the artists or project.

2. Diversity and participation

Show how your project is relevant to/or benefits NSW artists, arts and cultural workers, or communities.

• Clearly outline the steps your project will take to engage with target communities. 

• If your project involves First Nations artists/and/or communities, explain how all parties will follow protocols and ICIP.

• Cultural Advocacy: Make sure your project actively promotes and protects First Nations cultural practices, voices, and perspectives. This is important for strengthening cultural identity and visibility in the arts sector.

3. Experience

List the experience of those involved in the project.

• Provide concise information about the artists involved, including relevant experience and skills that will make the project successful.

• Assume the board does not know the artists involved.

4. Connection to Country

Explain why the location/s are suitable for the project.

• Describe how the location reflects your own relationship with the place while respecting the distinct connections of First Nations peoples. 

• Outline the activities that will help people connect to the project.

5. Sustainability

Provide a clear budget to support your project.

• Include a detailed budget with notes explaining how larger amounts were calculated.

• If engaging with First Nations communities, show the budget supports following protocols.

• Explain how your budget makes the project accessible.

• Include details of fees for artists and arts and cultural workers.  

• Make sure all weblinks work and are easy for the board to access.
