1. Idea

A clear vision for your project that explains its aims and purpose.

• Explain the context of where the idea came from.

• Outline the purpose in simple language (avoid jargon). 

• Provide a strong ‘pitch’ for the idea so it is interesting and easy to understand, even for someone unfamiliar with the artists or project. 

2. Diversity and participation

Show how your project is relevant to/or benefits NSW artists, arts and cultural workers, or communities.

• Clearly outline the steps your project will take to engage with target communities.

• Outline evidence of genuine and meaningful understanding and engagement of regional communities and priority area groups (if relevant).

• If your project involves First Nations artists/and/or communities, explain how all parties will follow protocols and ICIP.  

3. Experience

List the experience of those involved in the project.

• Provide concise information about the artists involved, including relevant experience and skills that will make the project successful.

• Assume the panel does not know the artists involved.

4. Connection to Place

Explain why the location/s are suitable for the project.

• Describe how the location reflects your own relationship with the place while respecting the distinct connections of First Nations peoples.

• Outline the activities that will help people connect to the project. 

• Outline evidence of strategic planning and a clear rationale for touring to a particular location, including appropriate community consultation.

5. Planning

Details of the activities and dates for the proposed project.

• Ensure timeline, budget and activity are consistent, realistic and aligned.

• Be specific and provide details of the activities you will be undertaking and what the expected outcomes are.

6. Sustainability

Provide a clear budget to support your project.

• Include a detailed budget with notes explaining how larger amounts were calculated, including a clear delineation of funding for regional activities. 

• If engaging with First Nations communities, demonstrate that the budget supports adherence to protocols.

• Explain how your budget makes the project accessible.

• Include details of fees for artists and arts and cultural workers.  

• Make sure all weblinks work and are easy for the panel to access.
