The previous sequence could leave some organisations without a pathway to seek 2-year operational funding after an unsuccessful 4-year application. The revised sequence places the 4-year round first so eligible organisations are able to apply for 2-year funding if they are unsuccessful in the 4-year round.
Current 2-year funded organisations will receive a 12-month extension at their current funding amount. Each organisation will receive formal advice about its revised term, agreement requirements, reporting and next steps.
The 4-year and 4-plus-4 round is expected to open in 2027. Create NSW will publish the dates once finalised.
The next 2-year round is expected to open after the 4-year outcomes. Create NSW will publish the full program timeline (including 4-year and 2-year timelines) at a later date.
Create NSW will offer the 2026-27 Transitional Operational Funding Program to an approved group affected by the deferred 2-year round. The program will offer a total funding pool of $1,500,000 ($150,000 max per applicant) through a competitive assessment process.
The program is intended for organisations that previously received multi-year or annual operational funding prior to the reform but were unsuccessful in the reformed multi-year program. Due to the extension of the 2-year program, these organisations will not have the opportunity to re-enter the program as they may have expected

Yes. However, outcomes of the 4 year program will be known prior to the opening of the 2-year program. Current recipients of 2-year funding can also apply in the upcoming 4-year program.
