The Plan for Western Sydney Arts, Culture and Creative Industries: 2025-2028 aims to unleash the region’s untapped potential and chart a path for sustainable sector growth.
Leveraging the region’s established strengths, including a dynamic small-to-medium creative sector and a diverse, highly skilled and adaptable workforce, the plan recognises the power of creativity as a driver of economic opportunity, social connection and cultural expression.
Over the next 3 years, the plan will start to redress the inequity that has plagued Western Sydney for years, prioritise First Nations creative innovation, and leverage the extraordinary vitality of the Western Sydney festival sector.
Over the next decade, through targeted programs and partnerships developed in consultation with the region’s creative sector, together we will unlock new opportunities for artists, cultural workers and creative enterprises to thrive. A coordinated approach across government, education, and the arts, culture and creative industries ecosystem is required to realise these opportunities.
The plan complements Creative Communities, the NSW Government’s 10-year arts, culture and creative industries policy, and shares its commitment to prioritise First Nations culture and support sustainable growth in the sector.
The plan includes 3 key priorities for the next 3 years:
Launch Western Sydney Investment Program
Commence First Nations Cultural Strategy
Create a landmark Western Sydney Festival
and is built on a strategic framework to focus activity across the next decade:
Unlock investment equity
Prioritise First Nations
Grow creative careers
Showcase Western Sydney
Unlock space for culture
Further details on the objectives and priorities can be found in the plan.
