Overview of this event
The Gaimaragal Foundation Indigenous Corporation, in partnership with the NSW Seniors Festival 2026, proudly presents a special Elders Lunch at Taronga Zoo—a culturally safe, welcoming day of connection, learning and celebration on Gaimaragal Country. This event is designed for First Nations Elders (and invited community guests) to come together, yarn, share stories and strengthen wellbeing through culture and community. Event highlights include; Welcome to Country and cultural address by a local First Nations leader and Elder, sharing the history and significance of Gaimaragal Country. Guided and interactive Taronga keeper presentation, exploring native flora and fauna and the role of conservation through a Caring for Country lens. Cultural knowledge sharing and community yarning session, creating space for Elders, community and Taronga staff to exchange stories and perspectives on conservation, land stewardship and cultural practice. Places are limited and bookings essential.
