A self-pour alcohol system allows patrons to walk up and pour their own alcoholic drinks from any of the available taps. Although this may provide convenience for patrons, it may also increase the risks around Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and compliance with the liquor laws when it is not well managed.
If a venue is using a self-pour system, it must be operated in accordance with the Self-Pour Code of Practice. The Code includes a range of controls that must be put in place within a licensed premises using a self-pour system.
Please read the Self-pour alcohol systems - Code of Practice below.
If a licensed venue operates a self-pour alcohol system, it is a condition of the licence that it complies with the code of practice. This code of practice is issued under clause 87 of the Liquor Regulation 2018.
Failure to comply with the code of practice can lead to regulatory action by Liquor & Gaming NSW.
