Regulatory Roadshow series heads to Albury
The Hospitality and Racing Regulatory Roadshow will visit Albury on Tuesday 20 May, with the NSW Government’s Vibrancy Reforms a feature item on the agenda.
Senior executives from Hospitality and Racing will meet with businesses, industry groups, community representatives and Aboriginal groups to discuss the government’s liquor and gaming reforms and regulatory priorities.
The Regulatory Roadshow is open to industry participants from Albury and surrounding areas and will feature presentations on compliance, licensing and plans for the night-time economy.
Hospitality and Racing Deputy Secretary Tarek Barakat said the event will feature a range of speakers and interactive panel discussions about the NSW Government services on offer to support hospitality businesses.
“The government has implemented key election commitments to boost vibrancy in NSW and revitalise the hospitality, live music, entertainment and cultural sectors,” Mr Barakat said.
“These changes are not just making an impact in metropolitan areas but are transforming our regions as well.
“My team will be available to answer any questions about what’s changed and explain how businesses can benefit from the new initiatives that reduce red tape and support the 24-hour economy.”
The Albury region has developed a growing and diverse range of entertainment and dining venues that cater to both locals and a large influx of visitors each year.
The Springdale Heights Tavern, the Bended Elbow and the Albury Sailors, Soldiers and Airmen’s Club are already making the most of incentives under the Government’s Vibrancy Reforms, now all hosting more live music through extended trading hours.
Mr Barakat said the roadshow will also be a chance to discuss any challenges arising from hospitality businesses in Albury-Wodonga facing different regulatory regimes on either side of the border.
“Feedback from the Regulatory Roadshow will help shape our future priorities, informing policies in the interests of local communities,” he said.
This year the Regulatory Roadshow has already visited Broken Hill and will also travel to the Central Coast, Ballina/Byron Bay and Bega.
