Nominate a trainer
Trainer applications
ATPs must submit a CC0200 ATP Trainer Application Form to:
- add new trainers to their organisation, or
- apply for an existing trainer to deliver additional courses.
All trainers must be approved by Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW) before they can deliver mandatory liquor and gaming training in NSW.
ATPs are responsible for ensuring their nominated trainers:
- have the minimum training qualifications
- have the minimum industry experience in the courses they plan to deliver, and
- hold a NSW competency card with valid endorsements for the courses they plan to deliver.
ATPs must ensure all trainer applications are submitted to L&GNSW in accordance with the following regulatory framework:
There is no fee to nominate a trainer.
What ATPs need to provide
ATPs must be able to provide and verify the following information in the trainer application form:
- a current resume
- employment history that meets the experience required under the Regulations for the course/s they are applying to deliver
- evidence of industry experience, such as employment references and statement of service
- certified copies of training qualifications
- a copy of the trainer’s NSW competency card with verification of their endorsements for the course/s they are applying to deliver.
Training qualifications
For all courses trainers must hold, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment at a minimum, in accordance with the ASQA 2025 Standards for RTOs.
Mandatory requirements for all courses
For all course types, trainers must have:
- a current NSW competency card with valid endorsements for the courses they want to deliver
- the minimum training qualification, and
- industry experience in a managerial or supervisory role as outlined in the Liquor Regulation 2018 and/or the Gaming Machines Regulation 2019.

The trainer must have:
- a NSW competency card with a valid RSA endorsement
- experience serving and supplying alcohol while holding a valid competency card, and
- a minimum 3 years' full-time equivalent experience in a managerial or supervisory position in a licensed premises.
The trainer must have:
- a current NSW competency card with an RCG endorsement
- experience in the gaming industry while holding a valid competency card, and
- a minimum of 3 years' experience in a managerial or supervisory position in a hotel or registered club (being a position with duties in relation to the conduct of gaming machine activities).
The trainer must have:
- a current NSW competency card with RCG and ARCG endorsements, and
- a minimum 5 years' experience in a managerial or supervisory position in a hotel or registered club with duties in the conduct of gaming machine activities.
There is no trainer application requirement to deliver RGBO training, however, trainers must be approved to deliver ARCG.
The trainer must have:
- a current NSW competency card with a Licensee endorsement, and
- a minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior managerial position in a licensed premises (being a position with duties in relation to the service of liquor).
The trainer must have:
- a current NSW competency card with LT and ALT endorsement, and
- a minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior managerial position in a licensed premises (being a position with duties in relation to the service of liquor).
Industry experience
L&GNSW assesses a trainer's industry experience in accordance with the:
What experience must show
The trainer’s experience:
- shows industry experience relevant to the course
- shows the duties were managerial or supervisory in nature
- meets the minimum timeframe required (as full-time equivalent)
- was when the applicant held a valid NSW competency card with endorsements for the course/s they are applying to deliver, and
- is supported by verifiable evidence, such as employment history and references.
ATP responsibilities
ATPs are responsible for ensuring nominated trainers:
- meet the regulatory and legislative requirements for industry experience
- provide complete and accurate information on the duties performed, and
- have experience relevant to the courses they are nominated to deliver.
