About training
Liquor & Gaming NSW has developed a standard Responsible Gambling Board Oversight (RGBO) training course to help Club Directors in NSW to meet the 1 July 2024 gaming reform mandatory training requirements.
Note: The timeline for Club Directors to meet the 1 July 2024 gaming reform training requirements has been extended from 31 December 2024 to 30 June 2025.
Who should complete this training
By 30 June 2025, all Club Directors of venues with gaming machines in NSW must complete one of the following training requirements:
Complete Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) and Advanced Responsible Conduct of Gambling (ARCG) training courses
OR
- Complete Responsible Gambling Board Oversight (RGBO) training course (information detailed below).
What you'll learn
The RGBO course is a one-hour face-to-face condensed version of the Advanced Responsible Conduct of Gambling (ARCG)
It equips Club Directors with a high-level understanding of their venue’s responsibility to minimise gambling harm.

Course format
It is a one-hour training session that may be offered in a classroom setting, either face-to-face or virtually.
How to apply
RGBO training is only available through Liquor & Gaming NSW Approved Training Providers (ATPs).

Costs
The cost of the training varies between providers. For specific pricing, please contact the ATPs directly.
What you get at the end
Completion certificate
Upon successful completion of an RGBO course, Club Directors will receive an RGBO course completion certificate from the Approved Training Provider.
Endorsement on competency card not included
RGBO training does not include an endorsement on the NSW competency card. Instead, Club Directors must retain their ATP-issued certificate as proof of course completion.
