About RSAT training
To make same day alcohol deliveries to the public in NSW, you must:
- complete the RSAT course, and
- pass the Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW) online RSAT Assessment.
Delivery providers, agents and drivers making same day deliveries in NSW must be aware of and be able to fulfil their legal obligations under the law as outlined in the L&GNSW RSAT Course Handbook
RSAT is a separate requirement to Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA).
Who should complete this training
RSAT is mandatory for anyone involved in same day alcohol delivery to the public in NSW.
This applies to:
- same-day alcohol delivery providers
- delivery agents, and
- people making same day deliveries.

How to get RSAT certification
To obtain the RSAT certification, you must:
- complete the L&GNSW RSAT course and assessment through TAFE NSW or,
- complete RSAT through any same day delivery provider, delivery agent or Registered Training Organisation offering the training, and
- pass the L&GNSW online RSAT assessment available through TAFE NSW.
RSAT courses may be offered either face-to-face or online.
Online assessment
The online RSAT assessment requires you to answer 12 questions and is available through TAFE NSW.
You have 3 attempts to pass the L&GNSW RSAT assessment. If you do not pass the assessment, you will be required to re-enrol at a cost of $19 for another 3 attempts at the assessment quiz.
Same-day alcohol delivery providers, delivery agents and registered training organisations (RTOs) may deliver the training, however the RSAT assessment must be completed through TAFE NSW for L&GNSW to issue the certificate.
Cost
The price charged for the RSAT course will vary between training providers.
The L&GNSW RSAT online course and assessment package through TAFE NSW is $30.
To enrol and complete the mandatory RSAT assessment through TAFE NSW is $19.
What you get at the end
Certification
The RSAT certificate allows you to make same day deliveries to the public in NSW.
You will need to create a TAFE account and provide your personal details. After you have successfully passed the RSAT assessment, these details will be displayed on the certificate issued by L&GNSW.
The certificate will be sent to the email address provided.
Managing your certificate
- You can download the certificate from your TAFE account within 6 months of the date of issue or save the certificate to your smartphone or computer.
- You must be able to provide evidence of your RSAT certification to NSW Police or a L&GNSW Inspector if requested.
- The RSAT certificate is valid for 5 years and to renew it, you must complete the RSAT course and assessment again prior to the certificate expiry date.

You need to complete the RSAT course before enrolling to complete the RSAT assessment. You are required to score 100% to pass the assessment before receiving your RSAT certificate. The mandatory RSAT assessment is available through the TAFE NSW learning platform.
You have 3 attempts to pass the L&GNSW RSAT assessment. If you do not pass the assessment, you will be required to re-enrol and pay a further $19 through TAFE NSW for another 3 attempts at the L&GNSW RSAT assessment.
No. Once you have enrolled through TAFE NSW, you will have 6 months from the date of enrolment to complete the RSAT assessment.
This certificate is valid for a period of 5 years, and after this time, you will need to complete the RSAT and the L&GNSW online RSAT assessment to renew your certificate.
