3.3 Parramatta


Delivering light rail for ParramattaParramatta Light Rail Stage 1 connects Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia, with a two-way track spanning 12 kilometres and 16 light rail stops. First passenger services began operations in December 2024. |

Health
- $492.0 million to develop a Statewide Pathology Hub on the Westmead campus to deliver pathology, public health, medical research and essential specialised support services.
- $40.1 million to fit out level 13 of the new Paediatric Services Building at Westmead in partnership with the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation. This increases the total spend for the redevelopment of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (Stage 2) to $659.1 million.
- $22.3 million to establish a new paediatric hospice at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead for children and young people with life-limiting illness and their families.
Education
- New Major School Upgrades at Ermington West Public School, Newington Public School, Rydalmere East Public School and Rydalmere Public School.
- Other projects underway include Melrose Park – new high school, and upgrades to Carlingford West Public School, Cumberland High School, Darcy Road Public School, Dundas Public School, Northmead Public School, Parramatta East Public School, Rydalmere Public School and Telopea Public School.
- Major upgrades to Wentworth Point Public School to lift capacity from 400 to 1,000 students.
- Investment in attracting and retaining teachers led to schools in Parramatta starting the 2025 school year with 39 per cent fewer vacancies than the same time in 2023, and 57 per cent fewer vacancies from the peak of the teacher shortage crisis.
Transport
- $200.0 million for Homebush Bay Drive jointly funded by the NSW and Australian Governments.
- $99.4 million over four years for the Hill Road upgrade at Sydney Olympic Park.
- $25 million for Toongabbie Bridge Enabling Works (Australian Government funded).
- More frequent buses between Liverpool and Parramatta, and between Rouse Hill and Parramatta.
Continuation of:
- $10.8 billion over four years for Sydney Metro West, connecting Greater Parramatta with the Sydney CBD
- $395.5 million over four years for Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2.
Communities and Justice
- Upgrading the Parramatta Fire Station as part of Fire and Rescue NSW $11.9 million Parramatta Precinct Strategy, which will also deliver a new Wentworthville Fire Station on its existing site.
Creative Industries
- Continuation of Powerhouse Parramatta.
