In recent years, loneliness has emerged as a significant issue in NSW, with research highlighting its widespread impact. There is also growing evidence to support volunteering as a key community-based intervention for those experiencing persistent loneliness.
This paper brings together research on volunteering and loneliness, encouraging organisations to consider individuals in the community who would particularly benefit from volunteering, but may not have considered volunteering as an intervention for loneliness.
