Keeping COVID safe at funerals, memorials and sorry business
How to stay COVID Safe when gathering to mourn the passing of a loved one.
Staying safe
Coming together to mourn the passing of a loved one and to celebrate their life is an important event for families and communities.
There are some steps you can take to ensure that events such as funerals, prayers, viewings, visits and wakes are held safely, to help protect you, your loved ones and your community.
- Remind your guests that if they are feeling unwell, they should not attend the funeral. Anyone who feels unwell should get tested immediately, even if they are fully vaccinated.
- Encourage guests to wear face masks indoors or when physical distancing is not possible, and practice good hygiene by washing their hands and using sanitizer.
- Don't share things like knives and forks, plates, cups, and cigarettes. This can put you at risk of catching COVID-19 or passing it on to others.
Rapid antigen tests
Encourage people to take a rapid antigen test (RAT) before the gathering.
