Lovebirds set sail at Sydney Opera House
Loved-up couples will have the chance to say, “I do” this Valentine’s Day at one of Australia’s most iconic landmarks, with the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages (the Registry) announcing its 2022 exclusive micro-wedding venue.
For one day only, the Registry will host 30 micro-weddings at the Sydney Opera House, in the breathtaking Yallamundi Rooms. NSW Registrar Amanda Ianna said with restrictions now easing it was the perfect time for couples to book an intimate and elegant micro-wedding.
“Our micro-weddings have proved to be hugely popular, especially for couples who missed out on making it official due to COVID-19 restrictions,” Ms Ianna said.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for couples to tie the knot on the most romantic day of the year in a beautiful venue at an affordable price.
“There’s really no better place to declare your love, than under the soaring sails of the Sydney Opera House, surrounded by the harbour.”
One couple Sezgin and Yagmur recently wed with one of The Registry’s micro-weddings on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The newlyweds got engaged in April, but the couple had to hold off on making it official due to COVID restrictions.
Yagmur knew she had found their dream venue when she saw the Registry were partnering with BridgeClimb to offer micro-weddings on 5 November 2021.
“My husband had always wanted to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge, so when this popped up, I jumped to book the unique venue,” Yagmur said.
“We all had such an amazing experience; our bridge climbers were left absolutely speechless. “It was definitely worth the wait, everyone loved the intimate experience of watching us marry on top of the bridge.
“We all celebrated afterwards at a Turkish restaurant in Glebe, where Sezgin surprised me with live Turkish music.”
The couple are currently honey mooning in central NSW at Broken Hill.
Intended newlyweds will not be the only ones able to enjoy these exclusive locations, with the Registry now offering vow renewal services across selected micro-wedding venues in 2022.
“This Valentine’s Day we’re also offering long time lovers the chance to renew their vows on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge,” Ms Ianna said.
“What better way for couples to elevate their love, especially after a couple of challenging years.
“Our Bridge Climb vow renewal packages start at $2,280 and include an exclusive vow renewal climb for the couple with a celebrant, personalised vows, followed by a glass of sparkling.”
The Registry’s micro-weddings and vow renewal packages also offer couples the chance have their ceremony at different iconic venues across NSW including Sydney Harbour Bridge, Bondi Icebergs, Vaucluse House, Clovelly Surf Club, Sergeants Mess in Mosman, Mereweather Surfhouse in Newcastle, and Wollongong Golf Course.
With 35 people or less, the intimate style of wedding allows couples to book an affordable and personalised package at an unforgettable location. The exact number of guests will be subject to the Public Health Orders of the day.
Couples can customise their dream day to suit their budget with optional photography, floral and reception packages from the Registry’s curated list of industry suppliers.
All-inclusive packages at Sydney Opera House start at $1,049 and take care of all legal requirements, including a ceremony in the Yallamundi Rooms, ceremony styling, a celebrant, lodgement of notice of intention to marry, as well as two wedding certificates: one standard and one commemorative.
