Review and Strategic Mapping of Local Decision Making

The independent review of Local Decision Making (LDM).

• assessed LDM’s strengths
• identified opportunities for enhancing its effectiveness in achieving its goals.
• compared existing AANSW policies with the ongoing Closing the Gap (CtG) priority reforms and targets.

The review had two main components:

1. Literature Review of LDM:
   • Examined published and unpublished literature related to LDM.
   • Outlined how LDM can align with other initiatives and emerging policy settings
   • Highlighted the importance of self-determination for positive outcomes in Aboriginal communities.
   • Made recommendations for strengthening LDM implementation, including enhancing government and regional alliance capacity.
2. Strategic Mapping:
   • Demonstrated alignment between LDM Accords (agreements between Aboriginal Regional Alliances and the NSW Government) and Closing the Gap socio-economic targets and priority reforms.
   • Jointly delivering the outcomes committed to in Accords will support Closing the Gap in NSW.
   • A PowerPoint presentation summarized the strategic mapping work.
