Aboriginal Affairs NSW recognises the diversity of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people who live, work and play on the traditional homelands of the Hunter Central Coast region. We pay our respects to the Elders of these lands as the Traditional Owners of Country and we acknowledge the continuing connection to land, waterways, sky and community of all Aboriginal people here today.
Aboriginal Affairs’ Hunter Central Coast (HCC) team has one regional office located at ‘The Store’ in Newcastle. The HCC region is a unique place situated on the lands of Worimi, Geawegal, Wonnarua, Awabakal and Darkinjung, and is home to over 50,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.
The HCC team works with a diverse range of stakeholders across the region. Including 9 Local Aboriginal Land Councils (LALCs), 2 Discrete Aboriginal Communities (DACs) and over 70 Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) and community groups that deliver a wide range of critical support services to their communities.
