Aihleen’s first time getting her breasts screened was sparked by a simple social media post.
“I saw a post online saying the mobile van will be at and it got me curious,” Aihleen said.
“So I decided to book an appointment. It’s for my own health,” Aihleen said.
Aihleen Sebastian is a 51-year-old mother of two and proud Lidcombe local.
She recently took a proactive step for her health by attending her first breast screening appointment at the mobile BreastScreen NSW van, currently stationed at DOOLEYS Lidcombe.
For Aihleen, the main motivator to return for future screenings is peace of mind.
“Yes, I would definitely go back,” she said. “It helps not having to worry about whether I have breast cancer or not.”
And her message to other women who may be hesitating is to ‘Just go for it. You won’t lose anything’.
The mobile BreastScreen NSW van will be at Dooleys Lidcombe until Friday, 23 May 2025.
It is scheduled to return to the same spot in August and October this year.
Women from Lidcombe and surrounding suburbs are provided consistent and convenient access to this important service.
A list of all screening locations including mobile van visits is available at breastscreen.nsw.gov.au.
