Who we are
Your information is being collected by Building Commission NSW, as part of the Department of Customer Service (DCS).
Building Commission NSW gives priority to protecting the privacy of your personal information, in accordance with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act) and Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (HRIP Act).

Why we collect your personal information
Building Commission NSW, as part of the Department of Customer Service, is collecting your personal information through this customer feedback survey.
The purpose of the collection is to understand and obtain feedback about your experience with Building Commission NSW through our services including, but not limited to, complaints, enquiries, phone calls, inspections, investigations, compliance matters, licensing, education, events, website, social media and communications (e.g. Building Commission NSW newsletters, letters or social media posts).
What personal information we collect
We may collect the following information:
- Any personal information you choose to share as part of your feedback.
- Your opinion on the services provided by Building Commission NSW (should you provide personal information in your response).
Demographic details (optional):
- suburb/town and postcode
- year of birth
- gender
- language spoken at home
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander origin.
Contact details (optional):
- name
- email address
- phone number.
Are you required by law to provide us with this information
Providing us with the requested information is not required by law and is a voluntary request to assist Building Commission NSW to improve our services.
How we may use this information
We will use the personal information we collect about you in deidentified form to support more informed intelligence analysis, policy making, program management, evaluation, research, service planning and other directly related purposes to facilitate more efficient service delivery for residents and businesses in NSW.
Who we may share your information with
We may disclose your personal information to other NSW Government agencies, or other State or Territory governments and/or the Commonwealth government for the purposes of research, service planning and for any compliance, enforcement and investigation purposes as required or authorised by law.
Other than as outlined above, we will not provide your personal information to anyone else unless we are authorised or permitted to do so by law or where you have given consent.

Protecting your information
We will store and manage your information in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002. We have measures in place to help protect your personal information from loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure, or other misuse.
We will only keep information for as long as we need it to fulfil the purposes we collected it for. After which, the information will be disposed of securely in accordance with the State Records Act 1998 and any other applicable legislation.
