Privacy collection notice for NSW Certifier Workforce Survey

Who we are

Your information is being collected by Building Commission NSW, as part of the Department of Customer Service (DCS). 

Building Commission NSW gives priority to protecting the privacy of your personal information, in accordance with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act) and Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (HRIP Act).

Why we collect your personal information

Building Commission NSW, as part of the Department of Customer Service, is collecting your personal information in this survey through the market research vendor, Fifty-Five Five Pty Ltd.

The purpose of the collection is to better understand sector challenges and risks for Certifiers, and to develop actionable insights that guide reform decisions, strengthen the profession and support NSW's housing goals.

Fifty-Five Five Pty Ltd will provide the collected information to Building Commission NSW in deidentified form.

What personal information we collect

We may collect the following information:

• your full name
• your email address
• phone number
• age / date of birth
• gender
• cultural background
• location
• certification and registration class
• employment information
• employment history as a Certifier (including but not limited to: years in the workforce, type of company you work for, work hours and workload)
• qualification experience
• education information
• financial information (related to your work, registration or qualifications)
• whether you speak English as a second language
• whether you identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person
• whether you are a person with a disability*
• whether you have any caring responsibilities and how these impact your career.
• any other personal or health information, should you choose to provide it, using the free-text fields in the survey.*

Are you required by law to provide us with this information?

Providing us with the requested information is not required by law. However if you choose to not to provide us with the requested information we may not be able to include your feedback and experience as a Certifier when making decisions about future reforms.

How we may use this information

We may use the personal information we collect about you in deidentified form:

• to inform future reform decisions and initiatives in the Certifier workforce
• with your consent, allow our engaged market research company to contact you to participate in a post-survey in-depth interview to discuss your experience
• to support more informed policy making, program management, evaluation, research, and service planning.
• for other directly related purposes.

Who we may share your information with

If required, we may disclose your personal and/or health information in de-identified form to other NSW Government agencies, or other States, Territories and/or the Commonwealth government for the purposes of sharing reports or results from the survey, providing recommendations to the Certifier workforce for any future reforms or initiatives, and for any compliance, enforcement and investigation purposes as required or authorised by law.

Unless stated otherwise, we will not disclose your personal information to any other party, unless we are authorised or permitted to do so by law or where you have given consent.

Fifty-Five Five Pty Ltd will not disclose identifiable personal information to Building Commission NSW unless you have given consent or they are required to do so by law.

Protecting your information

We will store and manage your information in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002. We have measures in place to help protect your personal information from loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure, or other misuse.

We will only keep information for as long as we need it to fulfil the purposes we collected it for. After which, the information will be disposed of securely in accordance with the State Records Act 1998 and any other applicable legislation.
