Bays West Precinct Redevelopment

Crowded public plaza with pedestrians and cyclists, market tents, trees, apartment buildings and tall brick chimneys in the background.

The NSW Government is transforming the Bays West Precinct into a vibrant, liveable community just 2 km from the Sydney CBD.

The Precinct is a generational opportunity to provide well-located homes on the city’s edge.

The Precinct will provide cultural and entertainment venues in an iconic location on the harbour foreshore, which will be opened to the public for the first time in a century.

Part of the Precinct, Glebe Island, has been used as a working port for the last 100 years. However, it has been underutilised since vehicle imports were relocated in 2008.

With alternative supply chains available for the port’s bulk commodity imports, the development of both The Bays Metro station and the White Bay Power Station, and the Precinct’s excellent location close to the Sydney CBD, now is the time to realise the Precinct’s full potential.

The Precinct will provide thousands of well-located homes close to a metro station. To facilitate this, it has been named an accelerated Transport Oriented Development (TOD) with The Bays Metro station as its hub.
