More for Borenore as ID Support NSW visits Australian National Field Days
Community members from Borenore and surrounding areas will be equipped with the knowledge on how to best protect their identity thanks to the nation-leading ID Support NSW team which is visiting the region on 23-25 October for Australian National Field Days.
It is anticipated more than 15,000 visitors will descend on Borenore for one of the oldest agricultural festivals on the calendar this year with ID Support NSW welcoming people to discuss any concerns they might have with protecting their identity, interacting with people and businesses online or over the phone, and to provide guidance on their personal circumstances.
The team’s visit coincides with Cyber Security Awareness Month and shows the NSW Government’s commitment to the NSW Digital Inclusion Strategy which is designed to address the challenges faced by vulnerable and disadvantaged communities when interacting online through community cybersecurity and privacy training.
Consultation on the strategy revealed more than 80 per cent of respondents had experienced online scams, privacy breaches or harassment, with at-risk groups disproportionally affected. These sessions will ensure tailored advice and recommendations can be provided to at risk members of the community.
More than 25,000 scams have been reported in NSW so far this year worth more than $48 million with scammers mostly using emails, phone calls and text messages, according to ScamWatch.
In the 2024-2025 financial year alone, ID Support NSW attended more than 160 community events, providing expert privacy and security advice to over 59,000 attendees.
The team’s recent appearance at Henty Machinery Field Days also had 60,000 attendees over three days.
Information about other ID Support NSW events, as well how to book a local ID Support NSW assistance event, is available on the ID Support NSW events page.
Further information on how to protect personal information online, as well as other cybersecurity tips, is available on the ID Support NSW hub.
