The program will employ Aboriginal Partnership Managers to connect communities with training programs and potential employers and provide businesses with advice about expanding and growing their operations.
Aboriginal businesses and organisations across regional NSW will be supported through the program to grow their operations, establish new employment and training pathways as well as economic independence in a culturally strong and safe way.
Delivered by a network of Aboriginal staff living and working on Country with Community, the program will also work with young people, schools and organisations to support more meaningful and stable training and employment outcomes.
Initiatives within the program are planned and co-designed through community consultation, collaboration and partnership with both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal organisations to align with community aspirations for securing their own prosperity toward economic self-determination.
The $14.6 million Regional Aboriginal Partnerships Program is being delivered by the Department of Regional NSW and is the lead regional-focused program to support outcomes under the NSW Closing the Gap Priority Reform 5, which seeks to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within NSW to access pathways through education, training, employment and business support to reach their aspirations.
