Strong field of eligible conservation sites assessed for fixed price offer

A strong landholder response to our latest Fixed Price Offer (FPO) is driving new conservation opportunities across NSW, with assessment of the biodiversity on participating eligible properties progressing from this week.
Senior Manager Tobi Edmonds said the response highlights the growing role of NSW private landholders in protecting our vulnerable landscapes.
“We’re seeing strong engagement from landholders who want to protect the environmental values on their properties,” he said.

“These agreements are about delivering lasting outcomes across whole landscapes. They contain over-cleared and threatened ecological communities that are subject to ongoing land use pressures and fragmentation.”
Over the coming weeks, NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) staff will assess more than 30,000 hectares of land, working directly with landholders to develop tailored management plans.
“These plans are built with landholders, and their knowledge and experience of the land is key to long-term success,” Tobi said.
The FPO targets some of the state’s least protected and most under pressure ecosystems, including threatened bushland and important wetlands.
All eligible properties will be visited up to the middle of May, marking the next step in turning strong landholder interest into on-ground, in-perpetuity conservation outcomes.
