Protect and enhance biodiversity

A strategic priority of the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust 2025-2026 to 2028-2029 Business Plan is to protect and enhance the natural environment in areas significant for the conservation of biodiversity.

What is biodiversity and why does it matter

Biodiversity is the variety of all living things, including plants, animals, fungi, lichen and microorganisms.

With the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust, private landholders protect natural habitats, improve landscape connectivity, prevent species extinction and build resilience to climate change.

Protect

These agreements are in-perpetuity, contribute to the National Reserve System and are managed and monitored to a world-class conservation standard.

Enhance

We support landholders to actively manage local biodiversity, enhancing resilience to climate change, providing education and support and raising awareness of threatened species and habitats.

Secure biodiversity outcomes

A strategic priority of the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust 2025-2026 to 2028-2029 Business Plan is to secure strategic biodiversity offset outcomes to drive biodiversity conservation outcomes that offset the impacts of development and ensure developer payments into the Biodiversity Conservation Fund are invested in conservation outcomes.
