The event, to be held at the Mercure Hotel on Tuesday 20 August, is an opportunity for industry members to meet with Hospitality and Racing’s senior executive to share knowledge and discuss any issues.
The Regulatory Roadshow will include presentations on liquor and gaming reforms, compliance, licensing, and plans for the night-time economy.
It will also feature a presentation from the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner about the incentives on offer for venues to provide live music and other entertainment options under the government’s Vibrancy Reforms.
Hospitality and Racing Deputy Secretary Tarek Barakat said he looked forward to hearing from the local community, including businesses, industry groups and Aboriginal representatives.
“The Riverina is home to a number of fantastic venues, and this is a great opportunity for us to get together to exchange ideas and give an update on how the government is working to support the local hospitality industry,” he said.
“Since December we’ve made a range of improvements to support a more vibrant night-time economy, and we want to make sure that local venues know exactly what’s changed, and how we can work with them to increase patronage at their venues.
“For example, we’ll be able to talk to them about incentives for live music, changes to special event extended trading conditions, as well as how we’ve simplified the process for resolving noise complaints.
“Hopefully this roadshow will help more venues in the Wagga Wagga region to broaden their offering and take their business to the next level.”
The Wagga Wagga event will be the fourth Regulatory Roadshow for 2024, with previous events held in Walgett, Tamworth, and Coffs Harbour.
A fifth event will be held in Dubbo on November 12.
Media is invited to attend the roadshow for interviews, photos and filming.
