Records and Information Management Policy

This corporate policy establishes and communicates State Records NSW’s commitment to transparency, accountability and efficient business through records and information management. This policy supports compliance with the State Records Act 1998.

This policy sets out how State Records NSW will:

• create and capture records to meet requirements of the State Records Act
• only use approved systems for recordkeeping
• protect records for security and accessibility
• allow access to records and information under various legislations
• retain records for minimum retention periods and dispose of records in a timely manner
• transfer records to State archives as required
• monitor and assess the records management program
• identify roles and responsibilities of staff in recordkeeping
