Briefings to connect Central West businesses to local work
Local businesses are encouraged to attend an information briefing and networking event to learn of upcoming work opportunities related to the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone.
The briefings will outline the pipeline of infrastructure projects and connect businesses with industry stakeholders.
Some of the major works in the pipeline include the construction of battery, solar and wind farms, distribution lines and temporary worker accommodation.
The briefings at Mudgee, Dubbo and Dunedoo will include presentations from the major contractors managing the projects who will outline the work opportunities for the next six months, as well as procurement processes and timeframes.
The sessions will include a networking opportunity where businesses can ask questions and meet industry representatives of major contracts.
A broad range of local businesses are encouraged to register as the type of work and services required for these projects could include expertise from a range of areas, such as trades, marketing, hospitality, fencing, cleaning services and the supply of goods, like hardware equipment.
The briefings will be followed by business capability workshops, which will be hosted by ACEREZ, the network operator delivering the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone.
The workshops will complement the briefings and will show businesses how to develop capability statements that outline the work and equipment they can offer when putting in a bid for work.
This is the first round of briefings, with further workshops expected to be held later this year.
Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development Director Economic Development Network Craig Jenkins said the briefings will inform local businesses of upcoming work in the region and connect them with industry stakeholders.
“We’re seeing an infrastructure boom in the Central West and we want to ensure that local trades and businesses are equipped and skilled to apply for and win work so the funding flows back into the region,” Mr Jenkins said.
“We know there’s plenty of good businesses in the area that do good work, and we want to make sure that they’re aware of the breadth of services required across these projects so they don’t miss out bidding for the work.
“I encourage local businesses to register and attend these briefings and workshops, and look forward to rolling out more throughout the year.”
