You can contact us if you believe there has been a breach of the Retail Trading Act 2008 relating to restricted trading days. To operate on a restricted trading day, businesses must lodge an application for exemption with NSW Fair Trading. Visit our retail trading page to learn more about retail trading in NSW.

Make a complaint
If you want to make a retail trading complaint, you should provide us with the following information where applicable:
- Details on whether you were directed to work on a restricted day.
- Evidence of a business opening on a restricted trading day, for example, a receipt.
- Copies of any other relevant documents.
If your complaint relates to your entitlements on a restricted trading day, please visit the Fair Work Ombudsman.
How Fair Trading will handle your complaint
our complaint will be reviewed to determine the most appropriate resolution. This may include:
- providing you with information to help resolve your complaint
- recording the complaint issues to assist in future compliance programs, or
- contacting the other party to try and resolve the dispute.
