Consumers warned not to deal with Mr Christopher Ian Howitt trading as Tru Water Filters
Acting Commissioner for NSW Fair Trading, Mr John Tansey, has warned consumers not to deal with sole trader Mr Christopher Ian Howitt who trades using the business name Tru Water Filters via website "www.truwater.com.au"
The online trader operates a business supplying and distributing water filtration products, systems, and accessories to consumers in Australia via the Tru Water website. Since August 2022 Tru Water Filters has appeared on NSW Fair Trading’s public complaints register every month, with an average of 36 complaints per month.
Complaints received relate to pre-paid online orders and include concerns that:
- there are delays in receiving goods ordered
- goods are not delivered
- consumers are charged twice for goods and credit card information is stored
- there are misrepresentations about the goods
- the goods ordered are substituted with other goods, which are often not genuine or are of lower value or quality.
The Commissioner previously issued public warnings on 20 March 2019, 29 July 2022 and 4 June 2023, against traders using the same website.
Anyone who has dealt with Mr Howitt, the website "www.truwater.com.au" or the business name Tru Water Filters and is not satisfied with their interaction is urged to lodge a complaint via our website or at any Service NSW centre.
