Consumers are being warned not to deal with National Fire & Safety Pty Ltd (ACN 649 300 845) or Mr Michael Robson, the sole director of the company, in relation to services for which accreditation by the Fire Protection Association of Australia (the FPAA) is required. The company uses the website www.nationalfiresafety.com.au/ to advertise services.
Consumers have complained that the company and Mr Michael Robson have offered and supplied fire protection services, for which accreditation by the FPAA is required, including assessments for annual fire safety statements, in circumstances where neither Mr Michael Robson nor employees of the company held the appropriate accreditation.
On 10 August 2021, the FPAA indefinitely suspended Mr Michael Robson’s Fire Safety Assessment accreditation (Accreditation No. F054451A). As such, Mr Michael Robson does not hold accreditation to undertake assessments for annual fire safety statements.
Under the Building and Development Certifiers Act 2018, persons who undertake regulated work (which includes certain fire protection services) are required to be accredited to do so. Consumers can check whether a person holds accreditation with the FPAA by visiting their website.
