Do not deal with Tevita Tiliti Ungounga, also known as David Ungounga
NSW consumers are again being warned not to deal with Tevita Tiliti Ungounga
NSW Fair Trading has recently received complaints indicating that Mr Ungounga may be continuing to seek residential building work for which a contractor licence is required.
Mr Ungounga may be seeking work in Sydney metropolitan areas including the Kellyville, Carlingford and Castle Hill areas.
Consumers dealing with Mr Ungounga complain that they engage him to perform major residential building works, concreting or structural landscaping and that he demands cash upfront but leaves the works uncompleted.
Mr Ungounga has not ever held a contractor licence authorising him to contract or do residential building work. Mr Ungounga has previously contracted using T.T. Construction (an unregistered business name) and T & T Sandstone Construction Pty Ltd (a deregistered company).
Mr Ungounga was the subject of a Public Warning issued by NSW Fair Trading on 11 August 2020.
Mr Ungounga was also the subject of another Public Warning issued by NSW Fair Trading on 24 October 2018 , after he was ordered by a court to pay more than $56,000 in fines and costs for doing residential building work he was not authorised to do, including the construction of a new home for $350,000.
Anyone who has had concerns in their dealings in NSW with Mr Ungounga, or has information about his continued operation, should contact NSW Fair Trading on 13 32 20 to lodge a complaint.
Consumers are warned against handing over payment prior to meeting a trader and prior to the commencement of work. Consumer are also urged to check that their tradesperson is appropriately licensed to do the work.
