NSW Consumers are being warned not to deal with Trent Travis Reid and who is understood to trade through business names including Transitions Roof Restorations, Toppride Roofing, Reids Roofing, Reids Roof Restoration, and Triple A Roofing.
NSW consumers are being warned not to deal with Trent Travis Reid and who is understood to trade through business names including Transitions Roof Restorations, Toppride Roofing, Reids Roofing, Reids Roof Restoration, and Triple A Roofing and who has used a business name registered to an unrelated person.
Mr Reid does not hold a licence under the Home Building Act 1989 authorising him to contract for or perform residential building work.
NSW Fair Trading has received several complaints about Mr Reid. The complaints received relate to consumers who contracted with Mr Reid for various works, such as roof repairs, roof restorations and alterations, roof gutter and downpipe repairs, driveway restoration,pressure cleaning, and painting.
Consumers reported that work done by Mr Reid is left in a defective and incomplete state,that Mr Reid has caused damage to property, has taken excessive deposit monies, has provided misleading representations about guarantees on his work and failed to refund his customers when they complain.
Anyone who has had dealings with Mr Reid should contact NSW Fair Trading on 13 32 20 to lodge a complaint.
NSW Fair Trading reminds consumers to be wary of tradespeople, including those who advertise on the internet, who claim to be licensed. Always check for a licence via the online register Verify.licence and never hand over money without first meeting your tradesperson.
Consumers can check what licence their trader is required to hold and if they are appropriately insured under the Home Building Compensation Fund, if required.
A licence is required for all specialist work such as electrical, plumbing and air conditioning regardless of the cost. Further, a licence is required for all other residential work valued at more than $5,000.
The Home Building Act 1989 prohibits seeking more than 10% of the contract price as a deposit prior to starting residential building work. Under the Home Building Act 1989, a written contract must be provided to the homeowner for building work above $20,000, and a small jobs contract is required for all work costing from $5,000 to $20,000.
