Hong Thang Tran, Maris Building Group Pty Ltd, and A & J Group Services Pty Ltd

Mr Tran is known to use many aliases including, Thuong Tho Pham, Dave the Builder, John Wilde, Elvis Tran, David Tran, Kevin Tran, Ethan Tran, Tommy Nguyen, Paul Lee and TT Building and Construction and is known to advertise on online community pages.

NSW Fair Trading have issued Mr Tran and associated companies fines totalling $19,500 from May 2020 to August 2020.

NSW Fair Trading has received complaints from consumers. Consumers complain that Mr Tran (including through corporate entities) has contracted to do residential building work without a licence to do so, advertised that he is willing to do residential building work he was not licenced for, contracted to do work requiring insurance under the Home Building Compensation Fund without obtaining any such insurance, and accepted substantial sums of money and without providing the services paid for.

Anyone who has had problems in their dealings in NSW with Mr Tran or the companies mentioned in this warning, or has information about their continued operation, should contact NSW Fair Trading on 13 32 20 to lodge a complaint.

Consumers are also urged to check that their tradesperson is appropriately licensed to do the work.
