Michael Garlick of Garlo Trailers fined $40,000 for failing to supply goods
NSW Fair Trading has prosecuted Michael Garlick, sole director of Narellan business Garlo Trailers, for multiple charges of failing to supply trailers after receiving customer payments.
Mr Garlick was convicted of 15 charges of accepting payment for and failing to supply goods within a reasonable timeframe, or at all. The court made the following orders:
- pay an overall fine of $40,000
- pay over $84,000 in compensation to affected customers and the Motor Dealers and Repairers Compensation Fund.
The Court noted the persistent and troubling offending of Mr Garlick, and the detriment caused to consumers in failing to receive goods they had paid for.
NSW Fair Trading will continue to take action against traders who breach Australian Consumer Law.
