As of Monday, 27 June 2022,the clinic at the Coles Village Complex, which offers Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines and boosters, will be open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday only from 9am to 3.30pm for booked appointments. Walk-in appointments are available daily from 9am to 3pm.
The clinic will also now offer free influenza vaccine to everyone aged 5 years and over (as of Monday, 27 June 2022).
“Our Broken Hill COVID-19 vaccination clinic has been operating on a seven-days a week basis until only recently and has been very successful in boosting our vaccination rates in the community,” said Mr Umit Agis, Chief Executive, Far West LHD.
“However, our numbers coming through the door have recently been consistently low and it was decided, as part of a staged transition to ‘business as normal’ and based on data, to reduce our days of operation back to three days a week,” he said.
Mr Agis said the reduction in days of operation will allow the health service to redirect resources to other areas in the service. “We also have the capacity to ramp up operations if demand increases.”
The public are advised they can also seek a COVID-19 and flu vaccination at their local GPs or pharmacy. Contact your local GP or pharmacy for details.
Mr Agis urged everyone to get their COVID-19 vaccination and flu shot if they have not yet done so, and to also ensure they have their third and fourth COVID booster shot if eligible.
“We know the vaccine and the boosters provide a greater level of protection against COVID-19. The virus is still in the community and I urge everyone to ensure they protect themselves, their loved ones and their community against COVID-19.”
He said it was also important for everyone to get their influenza vaccine.
“We are experiencing a high level of flu incidences across the Far West and the whole state and the flu vaccine offers a greater level of protection against this illness.”
