The colour run and barbecues will be held across the District:

- Menindee (Burke & Wills Oval) – Wednesday 4th October, 11am – 3pm
- Dareton (George Gordon Oval) – Thursday 5th October, 11am – 2pm
- Broken Hill (Sturt/Skate Park) – Friday 6th October, 11am – 3pm
FWLHD’s Aboriginal Mental Health Clinical Leader, Desley Mckellar said the district will raise awareness about available mental health support during the events to support this year’s theme ‘We all have a role to play’.
“Mental Health Month encourages all of us to think about our own mental health and wellbeing. It is also an opportunity for the community to better understand the importance of good mental health and where to seek help if required,” Ms Mckellar said.
“We are hosting these events to help people start a conversation about their mental health in a welcoming environment, where they can learn about the symptoms, find professional treatment and break the stigma about mental health care.
“The district is hoping to build a stronger relationship with the community to encourage people to access a wide range of integrated community and specialist mental health services if they are in need of support.”
The Mental Health Month community events are free and being supported by Neami National, Mission Australia, WayAhead and Headspace.
