Each year NSW Health runs GradStart, a state-wide recruitment process for graduate nurses and midwives.
Far West LHD’s Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Ms Wendy Gleeson, said there are great personal and professional benefits to working in a rural or regional area like Far West LHD.
“Living and working in regional NSW provides a wonderful opportunity for graduates to be part of our vibrant and close knit community, while also gaining valuable hands-on experience,” said Ms Gleeson.
“We offer a slower paced lifestyle, friendly communities, a vast array of social activities and a chance for graduates to broaden their skills in a facility offering high quality care to our community.
“There is a vast range of employment options available across our hospitals and healthcare facilities, so now is the right time to consider beginning your career in a personally and professionally rewarding rural setting,” she said.
Applications for NSW Health’s 2023 GradStart recruitment intake opened on 22 June and close on 6 July 2022.
Students are eligible to apply for the Far West LHD 2023 new graduate cohort if they:
- are completing a nursing or midwifery degree after 1 June 2022 and will be registered as a nurse or midwife by 13 February 2023.
- meet all the requirements to become a registered nurse or registered midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia before 13 February 2023.
- hold Australian citizenship or hold a visa that allows ongoing full-time employment in Australia.
