Wilcannia MPS: Change to operating hours
The Far West Local Health District is pleased to announce that an increase in staffing levels at Wilcannia Multipurpose Service (MPS) has resulted in opening hours increasing temporarily.
The Wilcannia MPS is now open from 7am to 9.30pm, seven days a week.
During these hours, patients can access walk-in emergency care. On-call staff remain available outside of those hours and will attend the facility and provide prompt care to patients who require treatment. Primary healthcare and allied health services will continue to run Monday to Friday as usual.
The safety of our patients is our highest priority and Far West LHD assures the community that the LHD is working hard to ensure emergency healthcare is available at Wilcannia MPS.
Attracting and retaining the required healthcare staff, particularly to regional, rural and remote areas, remains a long-standing focus for NSW and every other state and territory across Australia.
The District continues to ensure appropriately trained and skilled staff are available to provide services during opening hours and after hours on an on-call basis.
If an illness or injury is not urgent or life-threatening, the community is encouraged to call healthdirect on 1800 022 222 for 24-hour advice. A registered nurse will answer your call, ask some questions, and call an ambulance if required or provide you with advice. This is a free Australia-wide service.
In a life-threatening emergency always phone Triple Zero (000).
