Have your say on a place name in Camden LGA
The Geographical Names Board (GNB) is seeking community feedback on a proposal by Camden Council to name a reserve in the suburb of Oran Park as Motorsport Volunteers Park.
The proposed reserve is on the corner of Civic Way and Madden Street, Oran Park, Camden Local Government Area (LGA).
The proposed Motorsport Volunteers Park will recognise the valuable contributions of the volunteers who have supported motor racing in Oran Park, including events such as Supercars and Formula 1.
Race meetings are made possible by dedicated volunteer officials — including flag marshals, scrutineers, fire and rescue crews, recovery teams, and race control — all generously giving their time to ensure events run safely and smoothly.
The name for the park was proposed by Camden Council.
GNB is seeking feedback to gauge community sentiment for the proposed name. Suggestions for alternative names is not being sought at this time.
Details of the proposal can be viewed, and submissions lodged on the Geographical Names Board’s website.
Alternatively, written submissions may be mailed to the Secretary, Geographical Names Board, 346 Panorama Ave, Bathurst, NSW 2795.
The closing date for submissions is 17 October 2025.
Quotes to be attributed to NSW Surveyor-General Narelle Underwood:
“Place names become part of a community’s story, and it’s important that everyone has the opportunity to help shape that story.”
“We encourage community members to have their say on the proposed name to ensure it is relevant, meaningful, and representative of the area.”
