Access changes to undercover car park as part of Bathurst Hospital Redevelopment
Health Infrastructure is progressing the $200 million redevelopment of Bathurst Hospital, which will deliver modern health facilities and expanded healthcare services to meet the needs of communities across the Central West.
Construction firm Icon SI (Aust) Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract to deliver the redevelopment following a competitive tender process.
As part of enabling works for the project, changes to carpark 8, the undercover carpark accessed via Mitre Street will be place from Monday 27 October 2025.
Health Infrastructure and the Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) will keep staff, patients, carers and the community informed about any changes to access and parking as the project progresses.
What is changing?
As part of enabling works for the Bathurst Hospital Redevelopment, as of Monday 27 October 2025 several parking spaces in carpark 8, the undercover car park accessed via Mitre Street, will not be accessible. The changes are required to carry out the early works and prepare to commence construction on the Mitre Street side of the site.
There will also be the installation of construction fencing and shade cloth around areas of the campus including the Doctors Cottage and the grassed area on Mitre Street.
We understand these changes may cause inconvenience and appreciate your patience, understanding and support as we work to build a modern, safer and more accessible Bathurst Health Service for the community.
With the changes in carpark 8:
- The assigned On-Call Medical car parks have been relocated within carpark 8.
- For patients and visitors, we recommend allowing extra time to find parking at alternate locations on the campus or on the surrounding streets.
- For afternoon/evening staff: Please continue to let your manager know at the beginning of your shift if you have parked on surrounding streets. Managers are encouraged to support staff to safely move their cars back on to campus between 3pm and 5pm so staff are not returning to their vehicles on the street after dark.
- Disability parking remains accessible in multiple locations on the campus.
For your safety, please:
- Follow all signage and directions on site.
- Allow extra time to find parking and walk to your destination.
- WNSWLHD is working to minimise disruption, maintain essential fleet operations and ensure fair access to parking for staff, patients, and visitors. Clear signage and regular updates will help guide staff through these changes.
