Albury Wodonga Regional Hospital - Northeast Building changes to parking and traffic management
Health Infrastructure is delivering the Albury Wodonga Regional Hospital Project to expand health services and upgrade facilities for the Albury Wodonga community.
How will the work affect you?
From mid-October 2025, a number of parking and access changes have come into operation across the Albury Hospital Campus to support the establishment of the Northeast Building construction zone. These arrangements will remain in place for the duration of the Northeast Building works.
Traffic management
To support the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians during construction, a comprehensive traffic management plan has been implemented across the Albury Hospital Campus. The plan includes temporary road adjustments, signage, and traffic control measures to help staff, patients and visitors navigate the site safely and efficiently.
Traffic controllers are present during the day to assist with wayfinding and ensure safe access to all hospital areas. Signage will be clearly displayed to guide drivers and pedestrians, and we ask all campus users to follow directions and exercise caution when travelling through the site. Please be respectful and pay attention to the instructions provided by our Traffic Controllers.
Key safety measures include:
- Signage, barriers and traffic controllers to guide vehicles and pedestrians safely.
- A temporary access road linking the northern East Street driveway to the car park.
- Continued parking access for staff, visitors and the public via this internal road.
- Ongoing logistics and service access via the southern driveway and loading bay.
- ‘No Right Turn’ restriction from the northern driveway onto East Street.
- Zebra crossing installed at the northern driveway to support pedestrian safety.
Changes to note:
Parking
- Temporary verge parking is now available along the full length of East Street.
- The new Northwest Car Park is open and available for use.
- Signage is in place to assist drivers and pedestrians with the new parking layout.
- Staff and visitors are encouraged to allow extra time when arriving on site to adjust to the new arrangements.
- Please do not park where it clearly states ‘No Parking’
Construction fencing
- Fencing has been installed to safely enclose the Northeast Building construction zone.
- Please follow directional signage and take care when moving around the hospital precinct.
- Access to all hospital buildings and services will be maintained at all times.
Pedestrian access
- Safe pedestrian access to the hospital is now via the East Street footpath.
- A new pedestrian crossing has been installed near the loading dock and Emergency Department to support safe access for patients, staff and visitors.
- Wayfinding signage has been installed to guide pedestrian movement around the site.
- Please do not walk along the new two-way road providing access to on-site parking.

Minimising construction impacts
These changes are part of ongoing works to deliver the new Northeast Building – a major component of the Albury Wodonga Regional Hospital Project. We recognise that construction can be disruptive to nearby residents, businesses and road users, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation.
All activities are undertaken with the health and safety staff, visitors and the local community as our highest priority, and we thank you for supporting a safe working environment for everyone on site. Access points will be monitored throughout construction, with short-term traffic control or reduced speed limits in place as needed. For everyone’s safety, please always follow the direction of traffic controllers.
Holiday period site closure
The project site will be closed for the holiday period from Friday 19 December 2025 to Monday 5 January 2026.
During this time, no construction work will be undertaken. Measures will be in place to maintain site and public safety throughout the closure.
We thank you for your patience and cooperation as works have progressed at the Albury Wodonga Regional Hospital Project site this year and wish you a safe and happy festive season.
