Albury and surrounding communities are being invited to view and provide feedback on the planning application to deliver more than 200 new permanent car parking spaces as part of the Albury Wodonga Regional Hospital project, with the Review of Environmental Factors (REF) now on public exhibition.
The new permanent verge parking along East Street and Borella Road is part of the $558 million investment by the NSW, Victorian, and the Commonwealth Governments to deliver a major regional hospital and expand health services and facilities at the Albury Hospital campus.
The planning application is the next step in the planning process to deliver four permanent parking areas which will boost car park capacity on the Albury Hospital campus.
An Agreement between Albury City Council and Health Infrastructure has enabled access to land along East Street and Borella Road to provide more car parking spaces closer to health services and meet growing demand.
Consultation during the planning and design phases has identified parking, traffic impacts, and pedestrian safety are important issues for staff, patients, visitors and the broader community, and these will be assessed as part of the planning process.
Construction of the new permanent verge parking is expected to start later this year, following planning approval. Work is expected to be completed ahead of major construction for the new multi-storey Clinical Services Building, which is expected to start in 2026, following planning approval.
The parking spaces will build on the temporary parking being delivered on the East Street verge, which commenced in July this year. Together, these improvements will ensure enhanced accessibility and convenience for everyone who accesses the hospital campus.
The verge car parking will further complement the broader parking strategy for the Albury Hospital Campus.
The community is encouraged to attend community information sessions to meet the project team, provide feedback and learn more:
