Bathurst Hospital Redevelopment site establishment and construction car parking
Health Infrastructure is progressing the $200 million redevelopment of Bathurst Hospital, which will deliver modern health facilities and expanded healthcare services to meet the needs of communities across the Central West.
Construction firm Icon SI (Aust) Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract to deliver the redevelopment. Icon is supported by local contractor Lipman on the project and you will see representatives of both contractors on the site.
We recognise that building new infrastructure can be disruptive to nearby residents, businesses and road users. All construction activities are carried out with the health and safety of the local community as our top priority.
Site establishment and commencement of construction
In order to establish clear separation from the construction zones and ensure the operation of the hospital can be maintained throughout construction, site establishment works will be progressing until the end of the year. The works you can expect to see in November and December 2025 include:
- Additional site fencing around the construction zoned
- Tree removal
- Temporary changes to parking
How will the work affect you?
The works times will be between 7.00am and 6.00pm from Monday to Friday and 8.00am to 1.00pm on Saturday with no work on Sunday or Public Holidays. We will let you know in advance of any changes to these days and times.
In accordance with the planning approval mitigation measures, noisy works will only be undertaken between the hours of 9.00am-12.00pm and 2.00pm-5.00pm.
In accordance with our statutory requirements, we will be managing noise, dust and vibration to minimise impacts to the area surrounding the site. We will monitor and manage access points to the site throughout construction and may implement short term traffic control measures and speed limit reductions when required. For your safety, please follow the directions of traffic controllers at all times.
Construction traffic management
Health Infrastructure, WNSWLHD and the appointed contractors Icon SI (Aust) Pty Ltd place great importance on minimising construction impacts, including parking. The contractor understands that management of parking and access around the hospital site is critical and a management strategy for construction worker vehicles and traffic for the duration of the project has been prepared.
The 250m radius known as the Relevant Parking Zone (RPZ) will be preserved for public and staff parking. Construction worker parking will be recommended to park in Morrisset Street, 5-10mins walk from site.
Drop-off points for workers’ tools and equipment will be provided at the main site access gates on Commonwealth Street and Mitre Street.
We will monitor and manage access points to the site throughout construction and may implement short term traffic control measures and speed limit reductions when required. For your safety, please follow the directions of traffic controllers at all times.
