A milestone for the Broken Hill upgraded Emergency Department
Stage 2 of the $12 million Broken Hill Hospital Emergency Department is now complete.
The milestone includes the reconfiguration of five treatment bays, staff spaces and clinical back-of-house areas to provide a more functional clinical workspace for staff and patients.
The upgrade is being built in three stages, with the first stage completed in March 2025.
The final stage of the Emergency Department upgrade is currently underway and includes the construction of a new main entry, reception area, waiting room and triage space. The creation of an interview/consult room and two treatment bays are also included.
Construction of the Emergency Department upgrade is expected to be completed in late 2025. The community is thanked for their patience while the work is carried out.
The work is being delivered as part of the Broken Hill Health Service Redevelopment.
The redevelopment also includes the construction of a new purpose-built Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit, which is being delivered as part of the NSW Government’s $700m Statewide Mental Health Infrastructure Program.
