Broken Hill Health Service Redevelopment works notice - temporary changes to drop-off and pedestrian access at rear of hospital
Stage 3 of the Emergency Department (ED) upgrade at Broken Hill Health Service is progressing well. There will be temporary changes to hospital access via the rear (north) entrance to allow for the demolition of the existing walkway and finishing works on the western walkway from Monday 13 October until Sunday 26 October 2025.
About the work:
Work on the existing western walkway at the rear of the hospital, and adjacent rear entry, will be taking place from 13-26 October 2025, including Sunday 18 and Sunday 25 October.
The works will include:
- Cutting concrete to install an inground sewer line.
- Civil works.
- Reinstatement of paving.
How this work will inpact you:
There will be temporary changes to access to the hospital via the rear (north) entrance to allow for the demolition of the existing walkway and finishing works on the western walkway.
Work will take place between 7.00am and 3.00pm daily during this period, including Sunday 18 October and Sunday 25 October.
- All temporary vehicle and pedestrian arrangements will be in place for 24 hours a day during the works.
- The northern (rear) entry to the hospital will be partially blocked off, however access to the hospital via the rear entry will remain open at all times.
- Temporary fencing will be installed to form an exclusion zone.
- The current drop-off zone will be unavailable with a temporary drop-off zone in place.
- A temporary pedestrian walkway will be created allowing people to continue to access the hospital from the back carpark and temporary drop-off zone.
- Pedestrian entry to the hospital kiosk will be maintained and the kiosk will remain open as usual.
- Signage and wayfinding will be in place to safely direct people.
- There will be some loud noise associated with this work due to the use of a concrete saw.
- Dust suppression measures will be in place and water will be used during the concrete cutting to minimise any airborne dust.
- Please take care and follow instructions at all times. Normal access to the rear entrance will resume on Monday 27 October 2025.
